  1. The American child today or the TV child is 
  2. brought up in a world of scanning rather than 
  3. looking, of total involvement in audile-tactile 
  4. experiences which appeal to all of his senses. This 
  5. kind of total involvement of his whole sensorium is 
  6. in complete contrast to the specialist training of 
  7. the literate schoolroom. But the TV child of North 
  8. America is being brought up by television imagery 
  9. in a world of outlines that are flat and audile-
  10. tactile.
